This ring is made from Cherry which was soured just around the corner from my home, from friends who had their tree pruned. I like that the tree continues to live on in this way. It has no wax or oil but is shined up using a particularly fine type of sandpaper. It is a size 'O'.
When we spend time quietly with trees and stand or sit with them and listen, they too have a lot to say and to teach us. Working with this wood made me think of the Spring, the full blossoming, all the sweetness, all the richness, all the goodness, all the beginnings.
In terms of womens cyclical nature, the cherry reminds me of the Spring Maiden, the child who is to transform into her womanhood. Women are just like trees. We cycle through the seasons just as they do. Whether young or old, male or female or non-identifying, or animal or plant, or something else, we are all connected to the earth and rely upon our home. The symbol of the ring is a reminder of that - all things are one.

* Please note each piece of work is unique and handmade using natural organic materials. There may be small imperfections e.g. tiny nicks in the shell pieces which are part of the natural weathering process, or non-uniform woodgrain, or some making marks as they are not sanded and finished to a uniform machine standand. This work is not mass produced but made by the raw energy of a woman's heart and hands. My own cycle informs and influences my woodwork and I try to allow for this too as that is often where the real magic happens - sometimes pieces are wild, other times calm - but they are always lovingly made.
